Celebration of Black Womanhood


Celebration of Black Womanhood was formed in 2012 to honor the strength, diversity and essence of black women through an appreciation and celebration of her heritage and culture. This is accomplished through participation in programs dealing with common aspects of womanhood, such as self esteem, healing the inner soul and climbing the corporate ladder. We encourage women to uplift one another as they matriculate through UNC and beyond.

  

IDEA Geosciences Program (Increasing Diversity and Enhancing Academia)

IDEA (Increasing Diversity and Enhancing Academia) is a ten week full-time summer research program and/or part-time academic year research program for motivated and talented undergraduate students interested in the geosciences. Students work with UNC faculty on cutting-edge science, participate in graduate school preparation seminars, and share experiences with each other. Research opportunities in the fields of Marine Sciences, Geology, Geography, and Environmental Sciences are available. Previous research experience is not required. IDEA provides the foundation and skills necessary to pursue a graduate degree in the geosciences. This program is funded by the National Science Foundation, Opportunities for Enhancing Diversity in the Geosciences Program.

  

UNC Gospel Choir


Subgroup of the Black Student Movement. The gospel choir performs on campus and in various parts of North Carolina aiming to minister through music.
